How To Improve Your Golf Swing |

The secrets to a better golf swing |
Improve your golf swing:
What are the steps to improve your golf swing?
Most golfers believe there is just one step.
Keep working on your technique until…
…magically, a great golf game appears.
However this is far from reality.
Many golfers spend years and years working on their game and
miss out on the fun and enjoyment that is on offer.
So what’s the best way to improve a golf
swing?
Technique will always be important…that’s why golf telecasts
and magazines are full of golf tips, miracle cures and golf
technique.
But technique will never be everything. Golfers have to learn
to mix the right amount of technical training with ‘just
getting out and playing golf’.
Playing golf is when you are not concerned with how but rather
how many. Your mind is clear of technical instruction and
focused on shooting the lowest score possible.
This mindset takes some practice and obviously some good
skills…so let’s have a look at how you can improve your golf
swing and start ‘playing golf’.
Remember when you first learnt to ride a bike?
You fell off… you lacked confidence… and were perhaps a little
scared.
Then what happened?
One day…out of the blue you could do it! Riding a bike was
easy…you have never forgotten how to do it, even after a long
lay off.
If only golf could be like that!
Well it can! And I’m going to show you how.
That uncomfortable stage (when you’re clumsy and can’t do it)
happens when we learn any new skill. There is nothing you can
do about it, other than enjoy the challenge and look forward to
when your skill level grows.
Unfortunately most golfers don’t progress past this stage.
They will try and improve their golf swing continually. They
repeatedly work on different techniques and problem areas in
the belief that this is the only way to go.
So…
They never get better. They think if they keep working on their
technique, keep searching then something good will happen.
Reality is far from this.
Golfers need to learn to work on one thing at a time. Forget
about trying to improve their golf swing all at once. Stick
with one aspect of the swing, master it and move on.
They, when you get to the golf course, your focus must be on
playing golf. You have to trust that you've learned the correct
skill - don't spend time thinking about your golf swing when
you play. Hit the ball - don't think about it.
Working on your golf technique doesn’t need to take that long.
We would never spend months or even years learning to do most
other tasks. We work on them for a while, get better at them
and then just enjoy the new skill for the rest of our
lives.
To improve your golf swing you need to follow these
rules,
-
Only attempt to improve your golf swing if it’s broken. If
it isn’t broken, leave it alone. A few bad shots doesn’t
mean you need a complete overall!
-
Only ever work on one thing at a time. Never try and fix
the entire swing all at once.
-
Practice until you can perform the new skill. This doesn’t
have to take that long. If your mind is focused on one
thing you should be able to learn the new skill
quickly.
-
Finally, play golf. Forget whatever it is you were working
on and enjoy your golf game. This ability will allow you to
rise to the top and find your real ability.
Now for many this sounds like it’s too easy. Well it is easy,
it’s also easy not to do.
Trying every quick-fix, getting sucked into golfing gimmicks
and attempting every swing theory known to man is often far too
appealing for many golfers. The belief that they can improve
their golf swing quickly is just too tempting a pill.
However in most cases golfers will spend years chasing the
impossible dream and miss out on a great golf game that is
closer than they think.
If you want to improve your golf swing stick to what has been
shown to work time after time.
Train your golf swing then trust it. Improvement doesn't need
to be a difficult process. In fact, it can be a lot of
fun.
